Network Receives Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award Nomination
HorseRacing TV (TM) (HRTV) has received a 2008 Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Award nomination in the "Sports-- One Time Special" category, for the network's "Inside Information: Dubai World Cup" show.
The Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards encompasses Kentucky, and the Awards ceremony is slated for Saturday, July 25 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, KY.
In HRTV's 30-minute "Inside Information: Dubai World Cup" show, which aired for the first time on HRTV in April, 2008, reporter Scott Hazelton ushered racing fans on an entertaining, unique journey through one of racing's most wondrous venues. He offered a special look at his trip to the Middle East, and witnessed how Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the Ruler of Dubai, has transformed the desert region into a horseracing metropolis.
Hazelton also detailed Sheikh Mohammad's vision of horse racing's future in the UAE, with the continued development of a new billion-dollar racing facility called "Meydan" (which is slated to open in 2010).
HRTV's vice president of post production, Phil Kubel, was the producer, videographer and editor. Daisy Phipps was the field producer in Dubai. The network's Steve Kurland and Matt Wolff assisted in post-production. Amy J. Zimmerman is the executive producer for HRTV.
HRTV has received Thoroughbred Eclipse Awards in two of the last three years. In 2008, the Hennegan Brothers documentary, "The First Saturday in May," aired on HRTV in October, 2008, earning HRTV a Media Eclipse Award in the National TV feature programming category. Two years earlier, Pony Highway Productions and HRTV won a Media Eclipse Award in the Television Features Category for the documentary, "On The Muscle."
