Well it was a great weekend of racing all around the country. But I have to admit I’ve been a little selfish. I’ve had only one thing on my mind and that was running Lemon Chiffon in the Yellow Ribbon GI. We were trying for a GI win or placing. She went in to the race as well as she always has gone into her races. So we were very optimistic. But also knowing it was going to be tough. She ran a super race finishing 4th. She gave us a pretty good rush turning for home. Your always a little disappointed when you can’t do a little better. But that was no fault of hers. So we will give her one more run this year.  We will try to find a bit softer spot. Hope all enjoyed the races!

Hi I’m Sean McCarthy. I will try to bring you a “back stage pass” as to what is happening here at Santa Anita in the AM. I’m at the barn every morning by about 5am, so I will be able to give you some insight on the horses, jockeys and trainers here at the Oak Tree meeting as we close in on the Breeders’ Cup. And give you a feel of what a day is like in the McCarthy stable.

Good morning from Sean McCarthy racing stable. It’s a beautiful morning here at Santa Anita. The buzz is starting to pick up as we get closer to the Breeders Cup. With final prep races coming up this weekend alot of top horses are putting in there final works including Mine That Bird. The classic line of the morning came from Chip Wooley as the “Bird” was working 5f. Bob Baffert, watching the move yelled to Chip how well the Bird was moving, Chip replied. I didn’t think a guy your age could see that well. Even Bob had to laugh. Mine That Bird did put in a very nice move. With Joe Talamo up, He finished strong with his head down and good extention to his stride.
